MSU
December 7th, 2006Defense and rebounding ultimately did us in against the Spartans. I was very impressed with the intensity of Michigan St. personnel. Coming into the game, we knew that some things had to go our way early in order to keep the game in our grips. But we were hit hard on the glass and couldn’t knock down the open looks, which went hand in hand as we couldn’t find a way to match them. I thought we did a solid job of keeping their scorers in check as the announcer, Paul Biancardi, told me after the game, it is hard to defend after not scoring on six straight possessions. Michigan St. is simply playing very good basketball. I am very proud of our players, our confidence is growing and we simply view this as another great learning tool. As a side note, we are looking for the other half of Keno Burrows’ body as it was broken in half by one of the Spartan players on rebound (the play was clean). Keno understands that he must play with a lower center of gravity and I hope that he is understanding that this morning as he attempts to walk for the first time today.
Kent St. on Saturday… We need this one.
